August 27, 2008 - Las Vegas, NV - The Springs Preserve, in keeping with its ongoing mission to provide environmental leadership to the Las Vegas community, will host a Bicycles-As-Transportation event on Thursday, September 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will be hosted by actor / environmentalist Ed Begley, Jr.
Beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing until dusk, everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to ride one of several IZIP hybrid electric bicycles from Currie Technologies. In addition, Mr. Begley will speak on the importance of bicycles as transportation along with special guests.
"The single most important thing each of us can do to save money and help the environment is to get out of our cars – if just for a few days a month," explains Begley. "Hybrid electric bicycles – bicycles that have an electric assist motor that helps move the bike forward in addition to human pedal power – are the perfect solution for cities like Las Vegas. This type of electric assist bicycle really lessens the work the rider has to do, becoming a perfect transportation solution, especially during the summer heat or having to ride uphill. I encourage everyone to come to the Springs Preserve, try out these great bikes, and consider new ways to get out of their cars."
After Mr. Begley speaks, he will be available at the Currie Technologies bicycle tent for photos and autographs. His new book, Living Like Ed, will also be available for purchase and signing.
This special Springs Preserve event is being held in conjunction with Las Vegas' hosting of Interbike, North America's largest bicycle trade show being held September 24-26 at the Sands Expo. About Springs Preserve
